Terms of Service and Game Rules

1. The service

MU Battlegrounds is a free, community-run game server and this website is its player portal. The service is provided as is: we work hard to keep it available, but we can't guarantee that it is free of interruptions, errors or data loss. We may change, pause or end the service, reset game data when a technical problem requires it, and change these terms. The date at the top shows when the terms were last updated; continuing to play means you accept the current version.

2. Your account

• You are responsible for your account and everything done with it. Keep your password secret and use one you don't use anywhere else. The team will never ask for your password.
• Provide a valid email address. It is needed to verify your account and to recover it.
• Accounts, characters and items have no real-world value and remain part of the service. Selling or buying accounts, characters, items or Zen for real money is not allowed.
• Sharing your account with others is at your own risk. We don't restore items lost through account sharing.
• A maximum of two accounts may be connected from the same IP address at the same time.

3. Fair play

The following is not allowed and leads to penalties:

• Using cheats, speed hacks, bots or any third-party program that modifies the game or automates play, other than the MU Helper and the offline leveling built into the game.
• Exploiting bugs. If you find a bug, report it to the team instead of using it.
• Getting around the connection limit, for example with virtual machines, proxies or VPNs.
• Attacking, overloading or trying to gain unauthorized access to the server, this website or other players' accounts.
• Scamming other players in trades or impersonating game masters or the team.

4. Behaviour

• Treat other players with respect. Harassment, threats, hate speech and discrimination are not tolerated, in the game or on our community channels.
• Don't spam the chat or the /post command, and don't advertise other servers or websites.
• Character and guild names must not be offensive or impersonate the team.
• Player killing is part of the game, but deliberately and repeatedly harassing the same player is not.

5. Donations

Donations are voluntary and help pay for the server. They don't give items, Zen or any other in-game advantage, and they are not purchases of goods or services. Donations are not refundable, and a donation doesn't protect an account from penalties for breaking these rules.

6. Enforcement

Depending on how serious a violation is, the team may warn you, mute you, remove items or Zen gained through the violation, or ban the character or account temporarily or permanently. Accounts used to get around a ban are banned as well. If you believe a penalty was a mistake, contact the team calmly with the details; arguing in public channels doesn't speed up the review.

7. Website content

The guides, news and other content on this website are written by the MU Battlegrounds team. You may link to them and quote them with a reference to the source, but don't republish them as your own. Ads on this website are provided by third parties; we aren't responsible for the content of external websites they link to.

8. Privacy

How we handle your personal data is explained in our privacy policy.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, the MU Battlegrounds team is not liable for any loss of game progress, items or data, or for indirect damages arising from the use of the service.

10. Trademarks

MU Battlegrounds is an independent fan project and is not associated with, endorsed by or affiliated with Webzen Inc. All trademarks belong to their respective owners.
